Rheumatology, as a medical specialty, is part of internal medicine and is dedicated to the diagnosis and treatment of disorders and diseases that affect the locomotor system and connective tissue, including various connective diseases. This field encompasses a broad spectrum of approximately 200 types of rheumatic diseases, each with its own pathophysiological complexities.
Within our Rheumatology Service, we adopt a multidisciplinary approach that integrates several specialties, such as rheumatologists, experts in musculoskeletal ultrasound, podiatry professionals, specialized physiotherapists. Our primary mission is the provision of high-quality medical care quality and patient-centered, using holistic and personalized approaches.
We specialize in the treatment of complex rheumatic conditions, including but not limited to rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, ankylosing spondylitis, psoriatic arthritis, tendinitis, fibromyalgia and various soft tissue conditions. Our commitment lies in thoroughly understanding the molecular and pathophysiological basis of these conditions in order to offer precise and effective therapeutic interventions.
To ensure accurate diagnosis and treatment, our center has state-of-the-art facilities. They include:
- Two high-resolution ultrasound machines (esaote myLab60).
- An iDXA bone densitometry to accurately assess bone mineral density.
- A physiotherapy room fully equipped with advanced technologies, such as electrostimulation, infrared lamp and ultrasound machine.
- Two capillaroscopes for microvascular evaluation.
- A Leica® DM1000 birefringent optical microscope for detailed sample analysis.
- A specialized podiatry office to address specific aspects of rheumatic diseases that affect the feet.
- Six Rheumatology clinics, facilitating personalized and efficient care.
